The Breath of LentSample

These verses speak of nature, a consistent declaration of God’s glory. Even without the ability to express in words, we can look at nature and see glimmers of the character of God. We can see the wisdom of God found in the seasons, in the process of growth, death, life, hunger, and thirst. There are some days that the presence of God feels distant. But if you are willing to slow down for a moment, step outside the four walls you currently find yourself in, and take a deep breath soaking in the nature surrounding you, you may discover a reminder of who God is. You may find knowledge revealed through the skies.
“It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” This statement about the sun is a gentle, poetic reminder that there is nowhere you can go where the presence of God is not available to you. Nothing is deprived of its warmth. Perhaps today, weather permitting, is a day you can feel the warmth of the sun on your face as you begin to breathe the prayer declaring:
Inhale: Better is one day in your courts
Exhale: than a thousand elsewhere
