Journey With Jesus 365Sample

How can we best honor the Lord with the resources He has given us?
Jesus spoke about financial stewardship by emphasizing that whoever is faithful in little can be entrusted with much. At the same time, He was quick to warn against the danger of living for riches. Jesus said you cannot serve both the God of the universe and the god of money. He explained that covetousness (the strong desire for more) will inevitably draw your heart away from God, robbing your spirit of thankfulness for His daily provision. The Pharisees, being more interested in enriching their own wealth and status, were scornful of this teaching. Jesus gave a haunting illustration of a rich man who lived a life of extravagance while neglecting the poor and needy, who was suffering eternal torment in hell.
Between work and taking time for the Lord, which takes precedence? Are your financial decisions honorable in the sight of God? What can you do to look after the poor and needy today?
