God's Redemption Story (The Church: Part 2)Sample

2 Timothy – Day 1
We often quote 1 Timothy 1:7, “God has not given us a spirit of fear,” when we’re trying to make a decision. Should I apply for that job, tell my neighbor about Jesus, volunteer in kids ministry? No fear! But context is key here.
A few years earlier, Caesar Nero had burned Rome and blamed Christians. Overnight, Christianity went from new and exciting to illegal, and Paul was sitting on death row. And that’s when he encouraged Timothy to continue sharing the gospel.
Christianity may not be deadly today, like it was for Paul and Timothy, but we can certainly see the political and cultural tide moving away from God’s truth. Following Paul’s lead, let’s use the spirit of power, love, and discipline that God has given us to share Jesus with those around us. Because they need Him desperately.
