Hope in the Midst of Chaos: Devotions for Teen MothersSample

Day 2: Turning Away from Sin
Scripture: 1 John 1:9 (NIV) - “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.”
It’s important to acknowledge that while we all make mistakes, turning away from sin is essential for growth and healing. As young moms, there may be temptations or pressures that lead you astray. However, God offers forgiveness and purification when we seek Him sincerely.
Look at King David’s life; despite his grave sins—adultery with Bathsheba and orchestrating her husband’s death—he repented deeply (Psalm 51). David’s heartfelt confession led him back into right standing with God. His story reminds us that redemption is always possible through genuine repentance.
Reflection: Spend time in prayer today asking God to reveal any areas of your life where you need to turn away from sin. Write down any thoughts or feelings that arise during this time of reflection.
