Shepherd on the Search Advent Devotions for FamiliesSample

Following The Star
Can you imagine looking up at the same night sky you have seen your whole life and suddenly spotting something new—something brilliant and unexpected? This is what happened to the wise men when they saw the star. They knew that this new star must be special. God used the star to guide the wise men to Bethlehem. That bright light led them right to Jesus so they could worship Him. Jesus called Himself the light of the world. When He came it was just like God sending us a light so we wouldn’t have to live in the dark anymore. Because of Jesus we don’t have to live in darkness! Let’s do like the wise men and always remember to let God’s light guide us!
Discussion Question(s)
- What would it be like if everything was always dark all the time?
- How did Jesus bring light into the world?
