Praying for Revival: A Five-Day DevotionSample

Praying for Revival
Will the God, who has answered the pleas of his people in the past for revival, bring yet another revival before Christ’s return?
Most intercessors are certain the answer is yes. Why else would he call so many to pray for revival unless he intends to answer those prayers? Why would he allow us to experience our own paltry efforts at living righteously in an unrighteous world? Why would he show us how empty the amusements of this present age are when compared to the joys of his kingdom?
So, if God is the one who initiates revival, what’s our part to play? There is only one thing we can do—pray boldly and persistently. We dare not do anything else. True revival has only God’s fingerprints on it. When we try to manufacture revival, we only thwart God’s ability to usher in true revival. We must simply pray and trust God for revival. Our own hands cannot touch the working of God.
And remember, when revival comes, it may not be what we expected. How God answers our prayers is up to him. The kind of revival we witness is rarely what we expect.
As you read through this five-day devotional, be encouraged to pray boldly and believe in God for true revival.
PRAYER PROMPT: Lord, give us the desire to pray boldly and consistently for revival. Help us to trust in you.
