Take a BowSample

Practically speaking, humility can be a hard characteristic to practice. When people talk down to us, we don’t want to respond kindly; we want to give it right back. When we see our friends happy while we are struggling, it can be hard to be happy for them. When we think we’re good at something or know more about something, we can get caught up in the feeling of being right. But just because those might be our gut responses doesn’t mean they’re the best responses.
The beauty of the Gospel is that God’s glory is most on display when we try to be more like Jesus. Practically, that means we let God work in us to make us more like Jesus in humility. When we do, it’s easier to lay down our feelings for the sake of others. It's easier to respond to every situation with humility that comes from Jesus.
Today, write this passage down where you’ll see it often. When you come across it, read it as a prayer, asking God to work in your heart to grow in humility—just like Jesus!
