Take a BowSample

John the Baptist, a man who spent his life declaring the coming of Jesus, was known as a humble man. We see this in his life and the messages he shared with others. His words give us a beautiful example of humility and a powerful truth to aim for: that Jesus must increase in our lives. For that to happen, we must decrease. That He must become greater, and we become less.
This doesn’t mean that we are less important or shouldn’t see the value in ourselves. After all, we are made in God's image, which means we’re a big deal! It means that we make God the center of our lives. In our desire to be more like God, we seek what God wants instead of what we want, and we let our lives become about the things of God.
This week, use this verse as a prayer. Say it before you head out each day, asking for God’s presence to increase in your life and motivate you to live the way God calls you to.
