Daily Bible Reading— September 2024, God’s Guiding Word: WisdomSample

September 8
Introduction
1 Kings 3:16–28: Immediately after God promises to give King Solomon wisdom comes the account of two prostitutes who approach Solomon seeking his judgment. Each woman had given birth to a child, but one child died. Both women claim to be the rightful mother of the living child.
Today’s Key Verse: 1 Kings 3:28
When the people of Israel heard of Solomon’s decision, they were all filled with deep respect for him, because they knew then that God had given him the wisdom to settle disputes fairly.
Reflect
How did Solomon determine which of the two women was the rightful mother? How did his decision demonstrate that his wisdom was a gift from God? In what ways do you seek wisdom from God when you are faced with a difficult decision?
Pray
Sovereign God, by your wisdom, guide me in whatever decisions I may face today. May all I say and do give glory and honor to you and your holy name. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 19: God’s glory in creation
