As a Christian, it can be hard to know what exactly is and isn’t helpful for our faith. What activities should I be okay with? Can I be friends with someone who isn’t a Christian? Can I watch that show, listen to that song, or see that movie? When we struggle with these questions, we can find reassurance in Scripture. Paul’s words guide us to see that God can renew or change our way of thinking. We don’t have to try to change ourselves or behave our way into believing; rather, we can let God change us. We can let God renew the way we think and how we choose to live. When we trust God’s Spirit to lead us, we can trust that the choices we make and the way we live are good and pleasing to God.
Think of a few ways you feel pressured by the world around you to know what is right and wrong. Take some time to seek advice on these topics. Look them up in Scripture, pray about them, or talk to a trusted adult or Small Group Leader. With each one, ask God to show you what is good and pleasing for your life based on God’s leading.
