DAY 5 OF 7

[The video portion of this devotional is not available on your device. To view this video, visit your plan at www.youversion.com] Can’t Break Me “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.” – 1 Peter 5:7 “Here we go again, the devils at my door. Trying to get in to steal my soul.” Here we go again, is definitely how I feel all the time. If it isn’t this breaking, it’s that breaking. If it aint always something, it seems! We live in a corrupt and fallen world, where Satan prowls around like a lion looking for his next meal. This usually comes in the form of temptation, discouragement, contention or strife. See, since I am a believer, he’s already lost me. I’m now the Lords. However, that doesn’t mean the enemy has given up. I think of Adam and Eve in the garden, with the serpent slithering his way into their relationship. He was cunning and deceptive. He knocked on their door and they answered. They failed to resist him and as a result, they set the course of history into motion riddled with sin and death. However, I’m also reminded of the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11, where standing firm in their faith they were able to conquer. Hebrews 11:32-34 states: “And what more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets: who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became valiant in battle.” These are the stories that encourage me to keep my head up and remind me that I can and will win the battle.
