The Gospel of MarkSample

In verses 14-16, Jesus makes a point that the fundamental principle is: it is not the eating with
unclean hands or any other thing that we put into us that is defiling. Rather it is what comes out
of us that defiles us and reveals that we have unclean defiled hearts.
In verses 17-23, these verses show us that all evil-rooted actions, all sin is followed by an
inward choice. That is why Jesus is speaking to the thoughts from which the action comes.
Take time to reflect this idea today and pray through Psalms 139:23-24. I believe as we do, He
will meet us with unconditional love and correction that will lead us into deeper levels of
closeness and relationship with Him.
