Dinner With JesusSample

We all love the idea of fairness. We think we deserve or have earned something, or are owed something. We live with the mindset of getting what we think we should—and generally we think that’s more than what others should get or are getting! That’s what makes this verse from the apostle Paul such a challenge to live. Paul was encouraging us to live with the same attitude and mindset of Christ—which is to consider other’s best interests before our own. In other words, instead of being preoccupied with what we deserve and what we ought to have, Paul tells us to consider how we can help others get ahead.
What would it look like to fight for the rights and position of others? How would our lives be different if we considered the good and advancement of others over our own? It would ask a lot of us. But also? It would lead us to live a life that reflects Jesus in the best way possible.

About this Plan

Some of our most meaningful memories revolve around sharing a meal. Food has a way of taking an ordinary gathering and making it memorable. That’s why it makes sense that some of Jesus’ most impactful conversations and encounters happened over a shared meal. Let's look at some of the meals Jesus shared with all sorts of different people and see what we might learn for our own time and context.
