Parables - Wisdom for LifeSample

Have you ever tried to describe a place you’ve never seen? Try describing Hawaii, for example. If you’ve never been there, you might say, “There are beaches, people go there for holidays, and they say it’s really pretty,” but you wouldn’t know any details about it.
Someone who’s been to Hawaii would be able to tell you more. “Hawaii is a group of Islands in the North Pacific Ocean. There are eight major islands: Kaua’i, O’ahu, Moloka’i, Kaho’olawe, Ni’ihau, Lāna’i, Maui, and Hawai’i Island. Each island has its own flavour and different sights to see. Hawaii is like nowhere else on earth; it has the world’s most active volcano and the tallest sea mountain! The people of Hawaii are so warm and friendly you always feel welcome wherever you go. The weather is warm all the time, even in the wet rainy seasons.”
If you wanted to know what Hawaii is really like, you would ask someone who has actually been there! The person who has been there before can tell you what it’s really like because they’ve experienced it for themselves.
Jesus knows what the kingdom of heaven is like because He’s been there! He’s the one bringing God’s kingdom to earth. Jesus gives us understanding in the form of parables so we can know what the kingdom of heaven is like, and so we can know Him. We belong to the kingdom of God, so it’s only right that we know what this kingdom looks like.
