Jesus Our Savior: A DaySpring Journey Through Holy WeekSample

Jesus the Rock
Life is unpredictable, isn’t it? That’s true all the time, but the past couple of years have been full of even more uncertainty for many of us. What can we cling to when so many of our foundations are crumbling?
Thankfully, even when every part of our lives seems chaotic and unreliable, Jesus remains the same. When things change at an unbelievably rapid pace and any semblance of control slips right out of our hands, Jesus is our Rock.
Throughout the Psalms, the authors of that book cry out to the Lord in all sorts of distress, calling Him their Rock. They know, just as we can trust today, that the Lord is the one place we can turn when life is stressful or scary.
The disciples learned this lesson during a stormy boat ride. When gusty winds threatened to capsize their boat, the disciples were surprised and confused to find Jesus sleeping. They woke Him up and He quickly calmed the storm. We learn a couple of things from this story (you can read the story in Matthew 8:23-27). First, when Jesus is with us, we don’t need to worry. Even though it might not look like it, He is always in control. Second, when we do get scared, we can turn to Him and He will bring calm in the storm.
We pray that you find comfort and assurance in Jesus our Rock today.
