14 Honest Prayers for Mama Bears

DAY 3 OF 14

## Day 3: Parents’ Bedroom Lord God, I pray blessings over our bedroom, that it would be a sanctuary for my husband and me from the rest of the world. Peace in this home starts with peace in our marriage. Lord, may this be a room filled with love, romance, intimacy, unity, and bonding. I pray blessings over our marriage bed that You would purge from us any desires that don’t involve pure and sacrificial love for one another. I pray against any spirits of lust, anger, bitterness, or faultfinding. Any spirit that is not from You, Lord, I pray You would send it to the feet of Jesus. I pray for Your rest in this room—that our bedroom would be a place of refreshment and recharge. I pray for the conversations that happen in the evening that we would speak kindly and gently to one another. I pray for the spirit of unity that we would continually seek oneness of mind, body, and heart. Lord, let this room be a bastion of prayer, our war room, before we enter the world. As we shed our clothes each night, may we each shed the cares of the day and the sins of our hearts. And as we get dressed in the morning, may we intentionally clothe ourselves in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17). Lord, protect this room and protect our marriage. May we both submit to You in all things. ### Honest Habit Establishing a bedtime routine can be difficult and a point of contention in marriages. However, the time you spend before you drift off to sleep is vitally important; Mom and Dad need to be checking in with each other. My husband and I (Hillary) make it a point to listen to a chapter on the Bible app each night and talk about it. We are making our way through the whole Bible. Afterward, we discuss what we are thankful for about that specific day (so each night it’s something new). Then, we pray either separately or together. Once you make this a part of your routine, you’ll be surprised at how much you crave it when you don’t do it! And if you are a Mama Bear with an unbelieving spouse, there are still things you can do. Stick with the points of gratitude for each day, and remind your husband what you are thankful for about him every night.
