Pause: A Month of Joy in Five Minutes a DaySample

Proclaim
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (Phil. 4:4-5)
Prompt
Gentleness. It’s underrated in our modern society for sure. We love to laud the brash, the powerful, the people who “tell it like it is.” Social media celebrates the selfie pose, the self-promoter, the influencer.
Where is the place for the gentle?
According to our scripture passage, it’s with us. WE’RE the ones in this world whose gentleness should be evident to all. WE’RE the ones who should be spreading gentleness throughout the world, because that gentleness is an indicator of joy.
Prod
Is it hard for you to be gentle as you go about your day? What does that mean to you?
Think of the gentlest way you can go through your day today. Choose right now to put this gentleness into play TODAY! See how it might spark JOY in those around you.

Pray
Jesus, thank you for filling me with your gentleness. I’m so glad I get to be like you to others. Help me to stay humble, kind, and gentle with your children today. I just want others to see YOU in me today. I love you, Jesus, and thank you for being my Savior and King. Thank you for your faithfulness to me. Amen.

About this Plan

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by taking a pause each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
