Pause: A Month of Joy in Five Minutes a DaySample

Proclaim
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (Phil. 4:4-5)
Prompt
Do you let yourself get excited? Do you look forward with anticipation to what lies ahead?
While we do need to take things one day at a time, that shouldn’t stop us from having not just a big vision for our future but an exciting one!
Because there’s joy in excitement!
It’s exciting when we put together those first thirty days of sobriety! It’s exciting when we pay off that debt we owe! It’s exciting when we get far enough along to celebrate others when they start achieving milestones we’ve already attained!
By the same token, it’s exciting to look down the road with the vision of the Holy Spirit and see what God might have in store for us. Each day I get up expecting something BIG to happen. Why? Because in Jeremiah 29:11, God told me that He has plans for me that include hope and a future! That sounds like something big to me, and THAT gets me excited! Filled with joy!
Prod
What’s ahead for you to get excited about? Write down three things.
Give yourself permission today to believe that God wants to do the extraordinary in your life. Get excited and get joy-FULL!
Praise

Pray
Jesus, thank you for the gift of excitement. I believe that you have my life in your hands. Today, I commit to trusting you in every area of my life. I speak the name of Jesus and proclaim that my best days are ahead, that you are working all things together to bring about good in my life, and that something BIG is coming. God help me to see it today, and when I do, give me the confidence to chase after it with faith! Amen.

About this Plan

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by taking a pause each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
