Advent: The Coming of Jesus ChristSample

DEVOTIONAL
Welcome to Day 4 of Crosstowne’s Advent Calendar! Remember, this week, we are celebrating the “Prophet’s Candle,” also known as the candle of HOPE. I love what 1 Peter says about hope – Peter calls it a living hope. We put our hope in many things, but the only hope that remains is Jesus. He is a faithful and everlasting hope. Jesus is a living hope, meaning when we trust Him, He helps us to grow! He breathes life into us.
As the famous Christmas carol says, Jesus is the “thrill of hope,” the prophets knew this to be true. Their job in the Old Testament was to get people excited about the Messiah. Because we live after Jesus’ death and resurrection, we experience fulfilled hope here and now!
ACTIVITY
Let’s have a THRILL-ing dance party! It doesn’t matter what your day or season looks like; we all have a reason to dance because of our thrilling and living hope – JESUS CHRIST!
So turn on some Christmas jams and celebrate! PS: it’s ok to be silly!
PPS: Dancing and singing because of who Jesus is is also known as WORSHIP! Remember what we talked about yesterday. We can glorify and worship God in many ways.
