Advent: The Coming of Jesus ChristSample

DEVOTIONAL
We've lit the first three candles; now it's time for the 4th! Then, on Christmas Eve (tomorrow!), you will burn the final (5th) candle. You can light the last purple on the wreath today. Remember, the color purple typically represents the royalty of Christ.
Our fourth candle is called “The Angel's Candle”. This candle symbolizes PEACE on earth because of Jesus' birth. The angels sang "Glory to God" as loud as they could! The angels are responsible for spreading the PEACE of God to all of those in the Bethlehem story. Wow!
ACTIVITY
We recommend you light all four candles (one pink and three purple), then read the Scripture aloud. Reflect on the excitement of the coming Messiah and pray.
Close your eyes and imagine what a heavenly host of angels sounds like! With young kids, have them take turns pretending to be angels singing.
Blow each candle out one by one and say the words associated with each one:
"Jesus, I ask for your HOPE, FAITH, JOY & PEACE."
