Scattered
In Part One, The Early Church, we read about the explosive growth of the church as Christianity spread through the power of the Holy Spirit. In Part Two, Scattered, things don’t seem to go quite as well. Our protagonists are arrested, run out of town, falsely accused, and otherwise beaten down. They seem to be losing…
Or are they?
One of the main themes of the book of Acts involves our perspective vs. God’s perspective. We read about apostles thrown in prison and we see loss; God, on the other hand, sees it as an opportunity for victory.
We see Paul run out of town again and again, and we think, missed opportunity. God, however, sees new opportunities for new people to hear the gospel.
As you read, keep in mind these parallel themes: our perspective and God’s perspective. And as you see God’s perspective at work, keep in mind that he is still working today just as he was in these stories.
We trust it will give you hope, encouragement, and a newfound vigor for following Christ.
May Scattered bless and encourage you just as much as The Early Church did.

About this Plan

(Part two of a four part journey through the Books of Acts.) Even in (and especially in?) hard times, God is present and is working to build His Church. We can find encouragement in this. When circumstances force us to pivot, we don’t have to lose heart - God is with us.
