Promises: My Heart’s Desire
What do you dream about? What fills your heart with passion? What gives you a sense of significance? What makes you say, “This is what I was put on earth to do!”? Today’s passage provides three focal points in fulfilling our God-given desires.
Psalm 37:4-6
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.
Three takeaways from these verses:
- Take delight in the Lord.
Inappropriate fires cannot burn in a soul set on the Savior. When I delight in the Lord, he becomes the focus of my dreams. - Commit your way to the Lord.
Many of us like to plan our work and work our plans. And…that’s where we mess things up. Hand your plans to God, wait for him, and follow his guide. - He will give you the desires of your heart.
When our hearts beat with God’s, we share the same desires. His plans are ours. We are on his timetable. The things he values impassion us. We can shed the weight of empty aspirations. He captures the inner fire and makes our “righteous reward shine”!
Father, please make my dreams your dreams, and let’s fulfill them together. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
