7 Days After Getting Saved

DAY 5 OF 7

SPENDING TIME WITH GOD Having a devotional life simply means spending time with God in His Word. Finding a time where you can quiet your mind and set a meeting place allows you to focus on seeking and hearing from the Lord. Believe it or not, God speaks to you! Reading the Bible is one of the many ways we hear from Him. By studying the Word, we learn His tone and His voice and learn more about the character of God. The Bible is God’s Word to all people. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is completely relevant to our daily lives. Finding a time and rhythm that works for you will help you build consistency in devoting time daily to reading the Word. There is no wrong or right way to spend time with God or read the Bible. It can be helpful to break up your devotional time into prayer, worship, and reading the Bible. Many people also like to journal during their devotional time to write down prayers or Bible verses they are studying. There are many different translations to read from, and many digital Bible apps can show and compare different translations as you study. Which translation you choose is entirely up to you but a good place to start when reading would be the New Living Translation or the New International Version. Another great option would be to search different types of free Bible study plans in the YouVersion Bible app on topics or chapters of the Bible that interest you. Devotional time is important to continue to grow in your relationship with Christ. Application and Reflection Questions: * What is a practical time and meeting place for you to spend time with God daily? * How can you focus your mind and heart on prayer, worship, and studying the Word during this time? * What is distracting you from spending time with God? Prayer: Lord, help me develop a consistent love and devotion to spending time in Your presence. Would You speak and allow the words that I am reading in Your Bible to come alive? Allow my heart posture to be more open. God, thank You that Your Word is living, active, and necessary to my life. Give me the desire to spend time in Your Word, so I can know You deeper. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
