Day 1 of 6
Better is One Day – Psalm 84
This song is born out of a real encounter with God. I was at church one Sunday, leading worship, and a very special sense of encountering God came. I looked at my song list, and I didn’t feel like I had a song for the moment. I thought, “Wow, these don’t feel adequate for a time like this.” And so I actually picked up the Scripture, opened Psalm 84, and began to sing out, “Better is one day in Your courts than thousands elsewhere.”
I love those songs that are born out of encounters. Some of the best songs, some of the most meaningful songs, are born out of a time when you are meeting with God. It’s just a natural overflow of our heart and our soul that is found in the presence of God. Songs of “God, there’s nothing like You, the living God. There’s nothing like being in Your presence.”
In this devotional series from Matt Redman you will explore the scriptures and inspiration behind some of his biggest worship songs featured on the album Sing Like Never Before.
