That sounds amazing! For some of us, the sound of these words causes us to envision a flight to faraway destinations: new sights, new smells, new cultures, and, yes, new flavors to taste! For some of us, a journey or an adventure—well, that’s not our cup of tea. We might prefer the proximity of loved ones, familiar sounds, and pleasures, and we’re quite content in the arenas of life where we find ourselves. Regardless of where you find yourself on the spectrum of travel preferences, we are all on a journey… …A Journey called Life. Unfortunately, on our journey of life , we often try to navigate the path on our own. We run out the door ill-prepared to live life to the fullest in this broken, messed-up world. Without consulting the One who not only created us and everything around us, we try to make our own way. We lose our footing, miss opportunities, go where we shouldn’t, take wrong turns, and get in trouble with people we encounter. Instead of a trip of wonder, joy, and promise, it is usually about survival and how to make it through another day. Most of the time, we have no clue where we are or any idea how to get to our final destination. However, those folks who have surrendered their life’s journey to the Lord Jesus Christ are on the most wonder-filled pilgrimage a person can possibly have: an intimate walk and relationship with Almighty God. We will take the next several days covering foundational basics for a Jesus follower, taking two days at a time for each topic. We will… * Build on the foundation of God’s written Word, the Bible , as our Guidebook to our journey. * Briefly cover the terrain of His love . * Cover the need for Jesus’ cross . * Learn about His grace that holds us through faith. * Experience resurrection power in the Holy Spirit. * Grow in intimacy with God . * Understand better the refreshment of repentance . * Walk in the gift of spiritual warfare . Optional questions are provided at the end of each day’s posts to help you ponder what the Holy Spirit is speaking directly to you through the Bible verses provided. Possibly keep a journal of your answers, especially if you go through this plan with others, so you can share with one another.
