Seeing Jesus in the Gospel of MarkSample

GENTILE FAITH
Look Closely:
- Slowly read 7:26-28 and imagine what it was like to hear Jesus’ reply to this distraught mother. How does Jesus’ response make you feel?
- What else might be going on that prompts this response? (Consider that the woman was a Gentile, not Jewish. Also, consider the opposition Jesus is facing from the Jewish religious leaders.)
- Why did Jesus ultimately grant her request for healing?
- She left Jesus without seeing her daughter's healing. How does this demonstrate her faith?

About this Plan

In a world of hostility, corruption, and confusion, a regular guy named Mark wrote his gospel to boldly proclaim that Jesus is THE good news. Mark vividly tells his story with urgency and purpose, giving all of us a front-row seat to the teachings, miracles, discipleship, and life of Jesus. This plan puts you in the story so that you can observe, ask questions, and learn alongside the disciples.
