Anxiety Is Real: So Is GodSample

Anxiety Is Real: So Is God

DAY 4 OF 5

## He Is Making All Things New When I first became a Christian, I struggled with my feelings toward my sin. I felt shame, disgust, and embarrassment for the things I had done and for the things that were done to me. But God promised to restore what has been broken by sin. There is a new world to come. One free of blemish or imperfection. One of eternal value and worth. This picture is exactly what Revelation 21:5 talks about. “Behold, I am making all things new.” As anxiety ebbs and flows throughout life here on earth, we can look ahead with hope that the new world coming will be one of no struggles, sadness, or anxiety, but full of joy, love, rest, and peace. This is the hope of the gospel. I’ve chosen to sit in this hope, to put the hard work into healing, and, through counseling, I have been building a toolbox of things I can do when I feel anxious. I can focus on what I know to be true: God’s goodness, faithfulness, and mercy. I can rest in the fact that nothing will ever be able to separate me from God’s love. Second Corinthians 4:16-17 instructs us not to lose heart. Jesus is going to return, and we are being renewed day by day through our faith placed in Him. This has shaped the way I view my days, knowing a hard day of work, a stressful conversation with a family member, or a physical illness are “light and momentary troubles.” All things are being made new, even if you feel stuck in your anxiety. Today, spend a few minutes sitting with God, thanking Him for what His Son did on the Cross, and that He is the only One who has the power to make all things new in this world.
