Miracle in the Making: 5 Devotions for Expectant Moms

DAY 3 OF 5

Have you ever felt isolated during pregnancy? Especially during your first trimester, when you might be keeping your pregnancy a secret from family and friends until you reach twelve weeks or more. This can make you feel lonely and unseen as you struggle through those difficult first few weeks. Throughout the entire pregnancy, you could have plenty of well-wishers asking you how you’re feeling, and if you’re excited, and how far along you are. While the masses of people have best wishes for you and your baby, they probably don’t know exactly what you’re feeling on the inside. This can become even more isolating if you feel like you’re holding in your discomfort, anxiety, or frustration. But you don’t have to walk through this season on your own. First and foremost, God is by your side, and He is not afraid of your honesty, however brutal. In addition, what people in your life can you surround yourself with during these months? Look for individuals who are encouraging and supportive. Find a mom you admire who is in the next stage of life and ask her to be a supportive mentor during your pregnancy. Gather together close, trustworthy friends and family members who will walk through this journey with you and ask them to commit to pray for you, your baby, and the other members of your family. We don’t have to walk through life alone. God’s vision for His people is to be a strong, supportive community for one another. You can lean on your friends in these hard times and ask people to be praying for you. Don’t be afraid to be honest about how you’re feeling. Other moms can understand and offer encouragement. And someday, maybe you’ll be that voice of encouragement for another expectant mom. Lord, thank You for creating us to be in community with other people. Bring individuals into my life who can be an encouragement and a prayer support for me during my pregnancy. Thank You that I don't have to walk this path alone. Amen.
