Naomi knew that Boaz was their kinsman redeemer. Naomi recognized the sovereign hand of God, blessing them and showing them kindness in the midst of their pain and loss.
But God also had a bigger plan in mind. He would use this situation in Naomi and Ruth’s circumstances in order to advance his kingdom - even though the two women wouldn’t be able to see it in their lifetime. Jesus would come from the line of Ruth and Boaz.

About this Plan

The story of Ruth stands as a story of redemption. Coming from tragedy and as a foreign woman, Ruth is the last person we might expect to see the goodness of God. She becomes a key figure in the story of the Bible and the great-grandmother of King David himself!
