Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 8Sample

Jesus quotes the Messianic Prophecy about Himself from Isaiah 61. Isaiah gave a description of what the earthly ministry would look like. Isaiah used the “Year of Jubilee” as a metaphor to describe what the Messiah would come and do. During that year, all debts were cancelled, all land was returned to the original owners, the slaves were freed, and everybody was given a fresh new beginning. However, Jesus didn’t come to balance the political and economic chaos of the day. He came to introduce the spiritual “Year of Jubilee." If you are trusting in Jesus, you are living today in the spiritual “Year of Jubilee." You have been set free from bondage; your spiritual debt has been paid. You are living in the season of the Lord’s favour! A new beginning in Jesus!
