The Way Out of AnxietySample
It is easy, almost involuntary, to be consumed by worry. No one gets up in the morning with a plan to be stressed out. We don’t intend for anxious thoughts to grip our hearts and minds.
But can we challenge ourselves to be intentional about filling our hearts and minds with the Word of God? Can we challenge ourselves to preach the gospel to ourselves daily?
Overcoming anxiety is not a one-time thing. This is a daily battle. So put on the full armor of God every day. Put on that helmet of salvation because the enemy tries to attack your thoughts. Pick up that sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God, and remind yourself of who God is and who you are in Christ. Don't let identity amnesia set in. Instead, by meditating on Scripture, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Let’s conclude with the words of Peter in the chapter we've been dwelling on as he says: And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power forever and ever. Amen
God promises that He will "restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." How amazing to cast our anxieties on the God of all grace and perfect power.
The battle is real. But it belongs to God. And He gives the victory.
Reflect
While worries are sometimes involuntary, am I intentional about filling my mind and heart with the truth about who God is and who I am in Him? Do I put on the full armor of God and take my stand against the enemy? Do I truly believe that the battle belongs to God and that He gives the victory?
Lean In
Heavenly Father, What a privilege it is to gird myself with the Word of truth so that when the enemy tries to pull me into anxiety, I can stand firm on solid ground. Lord, help me preach the gospel to myself and always remember who You are and who I belong to! Thank You for showing me the way out of anxiety and walking with me on this journey to victory. In Jesus’ name. Amen
