When I search for a recipe online, I find the recipe with the fewest ingredients, requiring the fewest pieces of equipment, that can be finished in the shortest amount of time. My goal is to have a “Tah-Dah. Eat and enjoy” moment as quickly as possible.
There’s a Bible recipe perfect for me. And perfect for you. Philippians 4:6-7 gives us a recipe for peace. No matter what binds you – addiction, guilt, insecurity, bad relationships, stress – God wants you free so you can accept a life of His perfect peace.
God’s recipe for peace:
Don’t worry about anything
Instead, pray about everything
Tell God what you need
Thank him for all he’s done
Then – here’s what He’ll give in return - you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. And, his peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
Go back and read each instruction. Which of those steps trips you up? Is it not worrying? Maybe it’s telling God what you need. When we fully release control to God, He fully releases us to a life of peace.
Pray with me:
“Heavenly Father, I trust you. I give you control of (tell Him what’s on your heart). What do you give me in return?”
Reflection: Remember, God wants you free. God wants you fully and permanently free. Don’t let past hurts hurt your relationship with God. Trust Him. Experience the peace only He can give.
