The Spirit of Prayer

DAY 1 OF 12

> This, then, is how you should pray... THE SPIRIT OF PRAYER Prayer is part of the Christian life. Simply put prayer is talking to God . In prayer, we share our hopes, feelings, thoughts, and fears with God. God wants us to draw near to Him since the cornerstone of every strong relationship means talking to each other—honestly and frequently! Prayer is that humble moment when you realise you need help and that only God can help you. It’s submitting ourselves and our lives to God. Prayer is unique between every person and God. Each of us pray differently and at times we find ourselves praying in different ways, depending on what we are praying for, or perhaps who we are praying for. Adam and Eve talked with God, Moses prayed as he led the Israelites, Daniel prayed in the lion’s den, Jonah cried out in the belly of the fish and David cried out to God in song. It’s not about fancy words, it’s about being honest and real with God. The one who has all the answers, who created the universe, who heals us, saves us, and sets us free wants to have a relationship with us. It’s okay to not know how to pray, Romans 8:26-27 answers that very question. The Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness when we don’t know what to say. The Holy Spirit prays through us interceding for other people. You don’t pray alone, pray with the power of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 6:9-13 Jesus outlines how to pray and in this devotional, we are going to venture through the Lord’s prayer and pray it together. This is a great way to expand your prayer life, to go to places of prayer that you have never thought of. The Lord’s prayer is the pattern that Jesus set for our prayer life and a great way to activate a fresh Spirit of Prayer into your devotional time. Prayer: Father, as I pray through the Lord’s prayer, activate a fresh Spirit of prayer in my life. Let this time of praise, conversation with you, getting your perspective, seeking you for my daily needs and praying for others never stop in me. Let me be a person grounded in prayer. KEY PRAYER POINT: PRAY FOR YOUR CHURCH AND THE SPIRIT OF PRAYER TO BE RELEASED THROUGH IT.
