Coming Alive When you think about your relationship with Christ, what comes to mind? Do you think only of how He forgives your sins and saves you for Heaven. Or, do you hear Him saying, “Welcome to your incredible, new story!” This has been His message since He walked the earth. The pages of the New Testament burst with stories of ordinary humans whose lives were radically changed by Jesus’ love. Their responses were never, “Thanks, Jesus. I’m glad we’ll be in Heaven together one day.” Instead, they all reversed course. Their career paths and what they valued changed. They turned away from things that separated them from Jesus. They made incredible sacrifices. But they were beyond excited to do so! After all, their lives had been touched by the Light of the World! The Samaritan woman who Jesus meets at the well hears Him say: “You don’t know the gift of God or who is asking you for a drink of this water…because if you did, you would have asked Him for something greater; and He would have given you the living water.” (Jn. 4:10) As Jesus gently and lovingly challenges this woman’s life choices and shows her how He can rewrite her story, she is changed. Not just forgiven, but empowered to walk away from her endless pursuit of men. She’s so captivated by Jesus and the new life He’s given her, that she can’t help but share with everyone. Not only has this social outcast been transformed, but she now has a voice. And as she shares her story, others are captivated by Jesus and His living water. Do you realize what Christ offers you? Yes, eternal life, but a new existence too. Today! He longs to free you from the sin, darkness, and shame you are enslaved to, so that, like the woman at the well, you can take hold of your new, extraordinary life of freedom and infinite hope! Intentionally spend time thinking on this truth, and your heart will come alive!
