Resilient: Powerful Hope in a Dangerous WorldSample

In the Old Testament, there is a beautiful, heartfelt story of a promiscuous woman named Gomer and a holy man named Hosea. In this story, God calls Hosea to go and marry this woman caught in a promiscuous lifestyle, offering the freedom she had yet to experience, the love she had never heard of, and the joy only God could provide.
But what does Gomer do when he pursues her? She gets scared and flees to what she has always known. What does Hosea do? He pursues even harder and purchases what was already His. He buys her from her slavers.
When you run for the hills in fear, doubt, and fail and turn your back on Jesus, do you know what He does? He pursues you, purchases you, and takes the punishment of sin for you — it costs Him everything. To Him, you are worth giving His life for.
My friend, you have been intentionally bought with a price. You have been ransomed—set free—with the precious blood of Jesus.
Take a moment to sit in this love today. Don’t move on so quickly. Don’t rush this read. Don’t pay any attention to whatever else may be begging for your focus today. Sit in the love and freedom God purchased for you to have with His only son’s life.
Reflection Questions
