Perspective

DAY 1 OF 10

Perspective. It’s how we see the world. Our ability to relate, empathize, contribute, and understand. There are many things that can dictate our perspective. It can feel at times like there is a battle for our attention. Our focus. To prioritize what matters most to us. The question is: Where are we going for perspective? Where are we gaining the proper lens to view the world around us? In Ephesians 1:17-20 , Paul writes to the church in Ephesus: I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms. Paul is showing us that there is a way beyond what our eyes may be able to see. A perspective greater than our limited knowledge and experience. What is this? It is the perfect perspective of God. Paul is telling the church that he is praying that they would know God more. The word “know” means more than just understanding. It’s a word that describes intimacy. Not just knowledge of God, but continually pursuing a relationship with Him. Continuing to lean into Him. To learn to trust His vision beyond our own. So much so that we ask Him to open the eyes of our hearts. We ask God to give us His perspective in the world around us. When we start to see the world around us the way He does, we see that joy is not just found in the highest points of life. Peace is not just found in stillness. Worth is found in more than status. That broken lives don’t lose their purpose. Hope is more than just a concept. And following does not mean being perfect. God is the God of perfect vision. He is more than enough. He is our firm foundation. He is advancing his kingdom here and now through you and me. He is all we need. He is present with us no matter the circumstance. He is drawing his people closer to who he is. He is the God who takes broken things and makes them whole again. He is the God of good things. He is the God of vision. Perfect vision. Through this study, we center around the perfect vision of God. We’re asking him, and thanking Him, for His perspective. That we may know Him more. God, today we’re asking for Your perfect perspective. Open the eyes of our hearts to see the world around us the way You see it. Amen.
