Knowing and following Jesus is how we find the full life Jesus promised us. Memorizing this passage will consistently remind us that the ultimate life comes not when we do it our own way but when we take on the lifestyle of Jesus. Two fun ideas for how you can memorize this verse:

1. You can write each word from the passage on an individual notecard and mix up the cards, then time yourself to get all the cards in the correct order!
2. If you are memorizing this passage with a friend or a group, once all of you have it fairly committed to memory, you can play a game where you go back and forth, saying one word of the passage at a time.

Why it’s important to memorize Scripture:

• When you take the time to memorize scripture, not only are you putting the word of God in your mind, but you are communicating to yourself how valuable the Bible is to you. You wouldn’t decide on your own to take time to memorize something you didn’t care about.
• It has been said there is no formation without repetition. What this means is we will be shaped or formed into something based on how many times we repeat something. When we memorize scripture, we must continually repeat a certain passage to ourselves, whether by thinking it, writing it, or speaking it. Through this repetition of the word of God, we are being formed into who Jesus has called us to be.
