# Firmly Placed Though we can choose how we will build our lives—the values we live by, the goals we aim to reach, the consistent effort we put in to get there—there will be times when the rug is pulled out from beneath us. Unexpected troubles like a diagnosis, a death, a broken heart, or a career change, will happen to each of us. When this happens, we cannot rely on our strength to get us through. We cannot pretend to have the strength to stand when our legs are trembling. In these times, let’s lean on the faithfulness of the Lord to place us on a firm foundation of his own making. We must let him be our defender and our advocate. He is powerful in grave-busting mercy and loyal in ever-flowing love. Jesus, thank you for placing my feet on the firm foundation of your love when I cannot move myself. Thank you for being a sure foundation, a safe place of refuge, and all I need. I trust you.
