“A Problem and a Gift” As people, we have a problem that we may not even recognize. This problem exists in every culture and social circle. It will always have a penalty associated with it. This problem is SIN. Since birth, we have been sinning (Romans 3:23). Sin comes with a steep penalty that no one would want to pay. The penalty for sin is death and an eternity in hell (Romans 6:23). But there is hope! A man named Jesus Christ is our hope! Christ chose to give up life as God in order to present us with an answer to our sin problem. He’s the only answer we have for the penalty we must pay (Titus 3:5). Christ gives us Himself as a free gift, and He allows us to choose Him over death in sin (John 1:12). If we accept this gift and follow Christ with our hearts and lives, He will forgive our sins, and we can rest assured of our salvation in Him (1 John 5:13). This decision to “know” Christ is the most important decision we will ever make. It is the beginning of a new life of purpose and impact that we will never know otherwise. The choice is ours. Prayer starter: Ask Christ to forgive you of your sins. Tell Christ that you choose to “know” Him and accept Him as a free gift. Tell Him that your desire is to have more than just head knowledge and to make Him your Lord.
