Daily Bible Reading, January 2023 - God’s Saving Word: Unity in Christ JesusSample

January 23
Introduction
Outside the Temple, Peter and John encounter a lame man begging for money, and Peter heals him. Peter then speaks in the Temple, explaining that Jesus, as the promised Messiah, had to suffer. Peter urges the people to repent and receive God’s forgiveness.
Scripture Reading
Acts 3:1-26
Today’s Key Verse: Acts 3:25a
[Peter said:] “The promises of God through his prophets are for you, and you share in the covenant which God made with your ancestors.”
Reflect
In biblical times, people with physical ailments were considered unclean and were not allowed to enter the Temple. How does Peter’s healing of the man at the Beautiful Gate demonstrate the power of faith in Jesus? In what ways do you experience the power of faith?
Pray
Lord Jesus, continue to guide me each day so that my faith increases. Teach me to share your love, compassion, and hope with all people. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
And now, join us in thanking and praising God for the Bibles that are giving hope to the people in Ukraine. Merciful God, when Russia invaded Ukraine, the Bible Society bravely responded, providing Bibles and life-saving aid to the elderly orphans, families, and individuals whose lives were devastated by war. Thank you, Lord, that through the generous support of Bible-A-Month Partners, the Bible Society global network has helped to provide over 800,000 Bibles and Scripture resources for Ukrainians who were not able to flee their country and displaced Ukrainians who fled to surrounding countries for safety. We thank and praise you, Holy God, that your Word is providing the Ukrainian people with hope and encouragement, and the love of Jesus. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Acts 4:1-22: Peter and John are arrested for teaching about Jesus.
