God... I'm Waiting for You

DAY 4 OF 5

# Waiting for the miracle [IMAGE CONTENT] Every day, I read little encouragement cards with Bible verses on them. When I need a little encouragement, I prayerfully pull out a card and ask God to speak to me through it. That's exactly what I did the morning after I received an unexpected diagnosis from my eye doctor: there was likely something in my eye that couldn't be operated on. The rest of that afternoon, I lay on the couch, my vision blurry from the eye drops I'd been given. The diagnosis had already managed to gnaw at my psyche—thoughts like "You'll never be able to see normally again" were trying to take hold! But the verse I read on the card gave me new courage! > "But I trust in Your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in Your salvation. I will sing the LORD's praise, for He has been good to me." (Psalm 13:5-6, NIV) After the diagnosis, I had overlooked how God had already met me in some wonderful ways. My doctor said I couldn't drive that day, and my neighbor "coincidentally" had time to pick me up at the doctor's office. When I went shopping in the evening, I met another neighbor who immediately offered me a ride. Sometimes we don't see what we should because we're focused on seeing as we always have in the past. While I was waiting for my miracle (the ability to see normally again), I believe God wanted to show me that He would still be there with me, even if I didn't experience the miracle I prayed I would. The miracle isn't always what we would like it to be. Sometimes the miracle is accepting what we're facing and experiencing God anew in it! As you wait on God, as you wait for YOUR miracle, I'd like to encourage you with Psalm 27: "Hope in the LORD! Be strong! Let your heart take courage! Hope in the LORD!" (Psalm 27:14, CEB) Miracles do happen, even if we don't necessarily see them today! You are a miracle! Déborah
