Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 39 OF 366

What are You Waiting for? Waiting seems to be a part of all our lives. We wait for numerous things - for the dryer to dry the clothes, for our husbands to get home, for a great job offer, or for answers to prayer. Yet with so much of experience, we’re remarkably unskilled at waiting well. Waiting seems to be a colossal waste of time for us. God wants us to wait on Him. Waiting on the Lord requires looking unto Him. It means seeking the Lord with a confident expectation that He will lead and direct you. It is ultimately trusting God and waiting for Him to move strongly in your situation. At restaurants, when a good waiter waits on his customers, he pays attention to them. He may be out of sight, but always watching attentively to fill a customer’s glass or serve dessert at the end of the meal. He serves his customer as a servant serves his master. We’ve all been frustrated by waiters and waitresses who’ve ignored us. To wait on God is to be attentive to Him—to seek Him continually and always listen to His voice. Just as a waiter gives better service if he only has one customer, we can wait on the Lord better if He is our only focus. We can’t serve two masters. Our hearts must be focused on God alone. The best part of this is, while we are waiting, God is working. He is working to move us where He wants us to be, to bring us closer to Him and to manifest His glory in our lives. So today, I want to ask you: Are you waiting for others and for things that can’t be controlled or are you waiting on the Lord, who is the only One who can lead you, direct you and take you to higher places? Prayer Lord, help me focus my eyes on You and wait on You as You move in my life and make me the person You want me to be. Amen.
