Precious Moments That Count For Eternity

DAY 270 OF 366

Return to Owner Once I had to liaise with a team on a project. When some particular information was not forthcoming even after repeated requests, I reported the problem and sourced it externally. The team manager contacted me a good three weeks later to resolve the issue. I insisted that his juniors had not yet provided me with the data. Whilst he regretted that they had not acted in time initially, he was quite sure they had eventually done what was required. I was adamant and categorical in refuting that. He said this would lead to a severe reprimand for his juniors. I stood my ground. Imagine my mortification when I later checked my records and realized they had indeed sent me the data, albeit late. It had missed my attention and I had inadvertently landed someone in trouble. Since the deed was done, I had the option of keeping quiet about it. It would save me the embarrassment of owning up to my mistake. It seemed the sensible thing to do. Then God reminded me about Zacchaeus, who after meeting Jesus, declared he would turn away from his sins (tax collecting) and restore to people what he had unfairly snatched from them. I was in that same position – I had accused someone wrongly and snatched their self-esteem. Like Zacchaeus, I knew Jesus, and I was His righteousness, so I had to do what was right in His sight. I could not rest till then. So at the risk of being ridiculed, I met the manager and set the record straight. The process was painful, yet I felt an immeasurable peace. I had restored another’s reputation. I could hear my Savior saying, “Today salvation has come to My daughter’s house!” Have you ever been in a similar situation? Have you set things right yet, and made your heavenly Father smile? Declaration I am the righteousness of God in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21). I will endeavor to do what is right in my Father’s sight and continue to work out my salvation (Philippians 2:12).
