Rest and Peace for God’s Sheep Life in the city can be exhausting. We’re always on the move. From Monday, we work hard at our schools, colleges and the offices. As Friday approaches, we look forward to a restful weekend. But with demanding schedules, we have no time to rest even then! Come Monday morning, we’re back to the same tiring schedule. Psalm 23 talks about the Lord being our Shepherd. John 10:11 says, Jesus is our good shepherd. And just as a shepherd takes care of every need of his sheep, God does the same with us. It speaks of the Lord’s guidance, rest, provision and peace. As I read the verse, I pictured God as my shepherd, taking me to a place of rest. As our loving shepherd, He wants us to rest in Him. He doesn’t want us to toil, stress and worry about our lives. Green pastures speak of His provision and still waters talk of His peace. From a position of rest, God works in our lives to provide for us and keep us at peace. That’s how God wants us to live. He wants to provide for every need of ours – be it physical, spiritual, financial or emotional. God seeks our growth and development in every aspect. So, as you go about your busy daily routine, take some time to sit back and relax. Forget about rushing around and hastily getting things done. The Shepherd wants to lead you to a place of rest and, in that position, He will work to get things done in your life. Prayer Lord, You are my Good Shepherd. Lead me to a place of rest and grant me times of refreshing in Your presence. Amen.
