God’s Restoration A vast majority of people live their lives playing the balancing act. They continue to live in sin, while trying to please God to ensure that they are not punished for their sins. As a result, they are constantly oscillating between feelings of self-condemnation and self-righteousness. As unbelievers, we too had a similar lifestyle that was conformed to the patterns of the world. We would work our way through the process of repentance and restoration, in our own flesh. However, most often, we would end up being frustrated because this was a continuous process, wherein we were unable to catch up with God’s forgiveness for our sinful way of life. Today’s scripture is a revelation and an assurance of God’s grace to those who have accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. When Adam and Even sinned, they invited the wrath of God, which resulted in mankind getting alienated from God. But the heart of the Father is such that God wanted to restore His relationship with man. That’s why He asked His Son Jesus to pay the enormous price of this restoration with His own blood, because no other human being was qualified enough to do the same. Romans 4:25 (NIV) says, He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification. Through Jesus’ death on the cross, we have obtained forgiveness for our sins. And with His resurrection, we have been made righteous. Though there’s nothing we can do in our own power to qualify for this, we must humble ourselves and accept God’s amazing grace through faith. Prayer Father, we are privileged to know that You chose us while we were still sinners and all we need to do is to believe in the finished work of the cross. Help us to never take this for granted and live our lives in accordance with Your will. Amen.
