A Two Way Communication System We, as humans, all long for good strong relationships; be it with friends, family, spouse or colleagues. The best way to maintain a steady relationship is through constant communication. With the advent of the digital age, the world just got smaller. Send pictures in an instant, Skype with your parents or loved ones, call them up to say you love them...it’s all so easy. God wanted to have that same relationship with Israel, but they wanted a king instead. Imagine a father wanting to talk to and take care of his child. But the child keeps asking for a nanny instead. I personally believe we are wired this way by God, because He made us for communion with Him and He always speaks to us. We just have to learn to listen to His voice. This got me thinking, and it worries me as well, that we as a church run after prophets, which is not a bad thing. But doesn’t God want us to hear straight from Him and reserve the prophets to confirm what God is saying? Let’s be honest. Who wouldn’t want to know what God has in store for us? Isn’t it the same God inside of us? So, why not hear straight from Him? Sure, it may be difficult at first but He longs to hear you and speak to you. So, I urge you to spend more time with Him and get to know what is on His heart. After all, He did say in John 10:27 (NIV), “My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me.” Prayer Dear Daddy God, I want to know You more deeply; draw me closer to You and tell me what’s on Your heart. Let me delight in the things that delight You and make me more like You each day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
