Man’s Strength Versus God’s Power People place so much emphasis on their accomplishments, laurels and their friends in high places. They don’t care who they step on in their pursuit of success and promotion in their jobs. They have to rely on their wits and worldly wisdom to get what they want. This attitude is contrary to the one God wants us to have. He wants us to trust Him. When King Jehoshaphat of Judah was faced with a huge army of Ammonites, Moabites and the inhabitants of Mount Seir coming to attack his people, he was afraid. Nevertheless, his fear drove him to seek God for deliverance. He prayed, declaring God’s power and faithfulness in the past, and affirmed his faith in God saying, “...we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” God heard his prayer and sent word through one of the Levites. Jehoshaphat and his men would not have to fight the battle, but God would fight on their behalf. All they did was just sing and praise their God! God set ambushes against the enemy and the Ammonites and Moabites killed the people of Mount Seir. After that, they utterly destroyed one another. This was not just an overwhelming victory for King Jehoshaphat. When he and his people went to gather the spoil, it took them three days to collect the valuables and jewelry (2 Chronicles 20:1-25). God will do the same when we are faced with a dilemma. God delights when we acknowledge Him and look to Him for help. We don’t have to rely on our strength, wisdom or worldly influence. God’s ways are higher than ours. He gets the glory and we get the victory! Prayer Heavenly Father, I look to You today for help in this situation (name your situation).
