The Advent of JesusSample

Hey Locals! This advent season, we will examine some prophecies about the Messiah and how Jesus fulfilled them.
We can see the promise of redemption right from when things started to go wrong. The serpent is told that even though it will strike the heel of one of Eve's offspring, its head will be crushed in the process.
This figure of Eve's offspring is called 'Immanuel' in the passage from Isaiah, which means 'God with us.'
God's plan right from the beginning was communion with God. The prophecies we will read about in the next few days reveal what God is doing to restore the community between God and humanity.
This week let’s ask ourselves:
- What are the contexts of the passages I am reading?
- What role does prophecy about the future play in orientating our lives in the present?
About this Plan

This plan follows the prophecies about the Messiah and then the life of Jesus. During this advent season as MyLocal church, we want to look at the life of Jesus and his incredible message to humanity. We believe Jesus is the Messiah prophesied about in the Hebrew Bible: Emmanuel, 'God with us'. In this winter season we remember hope despite the circumstances.
