Daily Prayers for My Wife

DAY 15 OF 21

SELF‑TALK May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to You, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. PSALM 19:14 CSB It’s probably safe to say that when many people read this verse about the words of our mouths being acceptable to God, they think it applies to when we speak to or about other people. But it’s also vital to remember that the words we speak to ourselves can make or break the spirit within us. Can you identify? When was the last time you thought, What am I doing here—I’m not as qualified as everyone else; I am inadequate. I can’t believe I just blew it again. Why keep trying if I’m just going to mess up again? The thoughts we think about ourselves are as important to God as the ones we think about others. The negative and positive self‑talk affects how we perform at everything. It’s hard to love on others when we talk ourselves down. So, may the words we speak and the meditations of our thoughts—whether about ourselves or others—be truly pleasing to God. Oh, Lord, I can’t read my wife’s mind, but You know her every thought. You know the things she thinks about You, me, others, and herself. I pray that the meditations of her heart are pure and holy, positive, and filled with hope. I pray that she will fully embrace how amazing she is just the way she is. Guard her mind from thinking negative thoughts about herself. I want her to walk confidently in the truth that she was fearfully and wonderfully made by You. May she not miss hearing and receiving the loving words You say to her. Help my words edify and honor her for the royal child, sister in Christ, and beloved wife that she is. IN YOUR PRECIOUS NAME I PRAY. AMEN.
