Experience Christmas: A Family Devotional

DAY 5 OF 5

“Bring what you have” [The video portion of this devotional is not available on your device. To view this video, visit your plan at www.Bible.com] Hear it - Listen to the song: “Little Drummer Boy” by Bethel Music Kids Read it - Like the wise men we read about, people have always brought Him what they have. One young boy heard Jesus wanted to feed 5,000 people and decided to give Jesus what he had. He didn’t have much, only a small lunch of five loaves of bread and two fish. This young boy must have felt like “The Little Drummer Boy,” who could only give the sound of his drum. But what happened when this young boy gave his lunch is incredible. Jesus took the loaves and fish and gave thanks to God for them. He treated what this young boy gave Him as though God His Father was the one who gave it. Next He broke it and had His disciples pass it out to all the people, and that small lunch fed everyone. Not only that, the Bible says next that the people wanted Jesus to be king of their nation. They discovered the king they’d always wanted because this young boy gave what he had. Never underestimate what Jesus can do with what you bring Him. It could be something you don’t think is very much, like a simple song, or a short prayer, or even some of your money or time. It could be an instrument you play, like “The Little Drummer Boy,” or a video you make. You know Jesus as your King, and when you bring Him what you have, it could cause many other people to want Him to be their King too. Say it - What I have may not seem like much, but it is important to Jesus. I freely give what I have, and God will do great things with it, and many people will find Him. Share it - Talk with your family about what each of you has to bring to Jesus. Even if it doesn’t seem like much, share it with each other. Discuss with each other some ways you can offer those things to Him. More Reading: John 6:9-10 “There’s a young boy here with five barley loaves and two fish. But what good is that with this huge crowd?”
